Woody Woodpecker
Woody Woodpecker was created in 1940 by storyboard artist Ben Hardaway who also helped create Bugs Bunny and Daffy Duck. Woody Woodpecker was an outlandish type character who was later refined after World War 2 after the character was taken over by Dick Lundy. The Woody Woodpecker cartoons were first broadcast in 1957 under the name of the Woody Woodpecker show and ran until 1972 when Lundy finally closed his studio. Woody Woodpecker is still run on Saturday morning cartoons and the Woody Woodpecker cartoon is one of the most popular to come out of the 1940s era.
