The Watchmen is a 12 issue comic book run of the late 80s created by Alan Moore and Dave Gibbons. The Watchmen takes placed in an alternate version of the United States in which freelance superheroes have been outlawed. The Watchmen comic book series was one of the most popular miniseries during the 80s and, due to the popularity of the graphic novel, a Watchmen movie was released in 2009.
