The Three Stooges
The Three Stooges, best known for their series of comedy shorts, first performed in 1925 and are one of comedies most recognizable trio. The original cast starred characters Moe, Larry, and Shemp who was later replaced with probably the most popular stooge, Curly. When Curly suffered a stroke in 1946, he was replaced by Shemp until his death in 1955. The Three stooges continued for nearly 2 more decades until the death of Moe in 1975. The Three Stooges are remembered as one of the fathers of comedy as their humor was physical slapstick comedy, catchy one-liners, and insane plots. The Three Stooges remain one of the most popular comedy acts even today as the are run on tv virtually day and night.
