Miami Vice ran from 1984-89 and starred Don Johnson and Phillip Michael Thomas as two undercover detectives based out of Miami. Many of today's detective and crime fighting tv shows are based on the formula of Miami Vice as it was one of the most innovative shows of its time. Miami Vice was one of the top rated shows during its run in the late 80s and due to its popularity it was later made into a featured film in 2006.
