The original Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde movie is an adaptation of the book, the Strange Days of Dr Jekyll and Mr Hyde by Robert Stevenson. Dr Jekyll and Mr Hyde was released in 1931 and featured Dr Jekyll as mild mannered doctor who experiments with different drugs as he feels that man is both capable of good and evil. After a while, Dr Jekyll develops a drug that sets forth an evil side of humans. Dr Jekyll takes the evil drug and becomes Mr Hyde, a crude, murderous, sexual deviant. Dr Jekyll and Mr Hyde has been remade several times, and continues to be a popular story as the character has had plays, musicals, and other parts in movies including the LXG.
