Betty Boop
The Betty Boop character was produced by Max Fleischer and released by Paramount Pictures and first appeared in 1930 as the first flapper animated character and was known for her sexuality before being toned down in the mid-1930's due to censorship issues over her sexuality which eventually led to the downfall of the character by the end of the decade. Betty Boop is still one of the most popular animated characters of today mostly because her character was the first true female flapper, or a woman who broke the traditional molds of a woman during the liberal movement of the early 20th century, on traditional media outlets.
